An interesting thing happened on the way...

I worked late last night which put me on a later bus. While waiting for the bus a man struck up a conversation with me, and come to find out he was a DART planning engineer. I have to laugh because I almost stuffed my foot in my mouth... he was a very nice man who didn't have any issue having a frank conversation about the fiasco on the Texas-OU weekend. He said that there were several things that contributed to the problem.
1) they truly underestimated the ridership.
2) a train broke down between stops. With people packed in like sardines they had to unload some riders to even get to the electronics panel.
3) the first dry and beautiful weekend since the start of the fair.

Each of the delays accumulated to make for some tremendous delays.I really felt sorry for the man who obviously tried to plan the smooth operation of DARTs newest line.
