OMG!!! the religious zealots are at it again! I found Avatar to be a unique cinema event. I loved the new look at technology and the rich lore of the natives.
their gripes:

  1. white messiah
    1. the white man is our history, its just the way it is. In this case it is Humanity and not the white man that the image of Jake Sully represents. Yea Jake could have been black... or more ironic he could have been a Native American.
  2. anti military
    1. If you actually watched the movie you were told that the military element in the movie was more of a mercenary force that "followed the money"
  3. worship of nature
    1. Im sure that the white man said the same thing about the "heathen savages"  as they marched across America destroying the natives simple and chosen way of life.
Why is it that humanity cannot appreciate the innate goodness of the simple lives which they have destroyed time and time again? We do not have the right to take what we want at the expense of others. The bad guy in the movie was big business, they thought they were doing the honorable thing offering the natives "trinkets" like medicine and teaching them the "Civilized" language of English (hell we cant even teach the illegal mexican aliens English!!)... point was the natives didn't want or need what they were being offered so big business did what it always does... full steam ahead and bulldoze their way thru and take by force.

Why isn't THAT the lesson learned instead of making it a religious and racial issue?
